Polo was a 15.1 hand dapple grey Thoroughbred. He had a heart of gold, a wild, untamed spirit, and loved to please and take care of the young children who constantly showered him with hugs and treats in the barn. He was Isabella's best friend, her biggest supporter, he knew all of her secrets and fears and she loved him with all of her heart.
They grew together facing difficult lessons, tears, injuries, but most importantly, unconditional love and understanding. For years, they were an unbeatable team. After his career was prematurely ended by an unfortunate injury. They looked for home for Polo where he would be jumping at a slightly lower level.
They thought they found a forever home with a woman pretending to care about Polo... She promised a good home, promised visitation rights. She said he went to VT. The family offered to make the drive; Isabella missed him terribly...she lost the address...she didn't want to "pester" the new home...our calls stopped being answered...sadly they learned he had been sold to a kill buyer and had been shipped to slaughter.
They have sponsored this board by asking friends to donate to the billboard campaign, Isa holding a bake sale at school and other ways to help us get this board up. Isa's mom is working in the CT legislature to help make sure this never happens to another horse.
Help raise awareness and share Isabella's and Polo's page today and help stop another tragedy like this before it happens.
